Continuing the success of last year’s Independent Agency Awards. The second instalment saw large stylistic changes, a newfound love for animation and the ever-present challenge of making black and white colourful.

Once again, we 3D-modelled the real-life trophy and built several animations to use as marketing collateral. I had the pleasure of full creative autonomy which guided my direction to be as modern as possible. We’re all aware of how stale award shows can be, so my mission was to build a foundation of modern, engaging visual assets to build into a program that championed the best agency work from 2022.

Not only was there significant high-level creative behind this project. But also the responsibility of building, executing and reporting on a 6 month-long PR/Comms campaign to promote the awards show. This involved re-creating the same original, modern, hard-hitting animation to use across social, email marketing and longer-form PR pieces. We sat down with all 22 judges at Google to film interviews and judges’ comments, recognised and promoted partners and managed ticket sales and other organisational practices.

Looking back on the 2021 awards show compared to what we achieved in 2022. The difference is immeasurable. Having 300+ agency founders, MD’s and seniors sat down and engaging with content that was built exclusively by myself and a part-time creative was extremely fulfilling.
